The U.S. dollar changed hands around the 114 yen line in early deals in Tokyo on Monday aided by a lower house election on Sunday that saw the ruling Liberal Democratic Party sweep to victory.
As markets opened here, the dollar was quoted at 114.04-05 yen compared with 113.47-57 yen in New York and 113.32-33 yen at 5 p.m. on Friday in Tokyo.
The euro, meanwhile, fetched 1.1755-1755 dollars and 134.05-12 yen against 1.1779-1789 dollars and 133.68-78 yen in New York and 1.1805-1806 dollars and 133.78-82 yen in late Friday afternoon trade in Tokyo.
