The U.S. dollar hovered in the lower 112 yen zone Friday in Tokyo amid political uncertainty ahead of a general election expected to be held on Oct. 22.
At 5 p.m. local time, the dollar was quoted at 112.45-46 yen compared with 112.30-40 yen in New York and 112.82-83 yen in Tokyo at 5 p.m. Thursday. It moved between 112.32 yen and 112.73 yen during the day.
The euro fetched 1.1793-1795 dollars and 132.62-66 yen against 1.1781-1791 dollars and 132.34-44 yen in New York and 1.1754-1756 dollars and 132.61-65 yen in Tokyo late Thursday afternoon.
