The U.S. dollar stayed around the 114 yen line Thursday in Tokyo as the market awaited the announcement on who will be the new U.S. Federal Reserve chief.

At 5 p.m. local time, the dollar was quoted at 114.01-02 yen compared with 114.13-23 yen in New York and 113.89-91 yen in Tokyo at 5 p.m. Wednesday. It moved between 113.73 yen and 114.21 yen during the day.

The euro fetched 1.1642-1643 dollars and 132.73-77 yen against 1.1613-1623 dollars and 132.63-73 yen in New York and 1.1651-1653 dollars and 132.70-74 yen in Tokyo late Wednesday afternoon.
