ICBC Won Two Global Awards in The Banker 2006
 

The Banker, a UK well-known financial and economic journal, announced annual awards for the year 2006 in a recent occasion. ICBC won the global award of "Best Emerging Markets Bank" based on its good performance in 2006 and picked the title "Best Bank of China" for the fifth year.

The Banker is the authority financial journal in the world. Its annual awards are the undisputed "Industry Awards" for the global banking industry. ICBC gained significant recognition from the international community after successful financial reorganization and shareholding restructuring in 2006. Corporate governance had been improved, risk management and internal control were revamped. ICBC innovation ability was constantly strengthened and operating results was gaining speed; core competitiveness was distinctively on the rise. On October 27, 2006, ICBC was listed in Hong Kong and Shanghai and created a world records in the international capital market. ICBC thus become the fourth largest bank in the world (in terms of capitalization). The Banker gave these two prestigious awards to ICBC on account of these stunning achievements. Of which, the global award - "Best Emerging Markets Bank", was granted to a Chinese bank for the first time.
