On August 26, 2016, the second season of Eyes Care Initiative sponsored by ICBC and China Youth Development Foundation landed on Lhasa, setting up a permanent medical center in Lhasa People's Hospital. This center will help improve Tibetan children's eye health and eyesight protection through voluntary screening, medical assistance, education and technical support. ICBC will donate required medical equipment and support follow-up activities through the Bank's Young Volunteers Association.
The "Eyes Care Initiative" is a large public benefit project sponsored by seven organizations including ICBC Youth League Committee, ICBC Mall (the Bank’s e-commerce platform), China Youth Development Foundation, Hoson Foundation, Beijing Children Health Foundation, Beijing Children's Hospital Group, and China National Radio, aiming to fundamentally address children's eye health and eyesight protection through education, concept transmission, voluntary screening, topic research and medical assistance. In 2015, the first season of Eyes Care Initiative themed Love within Your Sight entered Lhasa, raising nearly RMB 2.3 million with help from all walks of life and donating altogether 12,180 "Children's Eyesight Protection Bag", treating over 5,500 children's eye problems and offering free eye surgeries to 6 poor Tibetan children in the Western plateau region. This year's theme is "Promise of Love", mainly aimed to provide thorough vision testing for Tibetan children, establish vision profile, spread eye protection knowledge, assist research on children's eye protection in high-altitude region and conduct distant treating, medical training and communications.
