ICBC Wins Best Social Responsibility Financial Institution Award of the Year
 

At the 2015 China Banking Social Responsibility Report Release & Honoring Conference sponsored by China Banking Association, ICBC was awarded “Best Social Responsibility Financial Institution of the Year” for its contribution to economic and social development and excellent image as a corporate citizen.

ICBC has always valued the virtuous cycle between sustainable corporate growth and social responsibility. By building a responsible bank focusing on value creation, brand building, green development, integrity, harmony and charity, ICBC has achieved significant fruits in supporting real economy, assisting small and micro businesses, practicing inclusive finance, improving customer services, promoting green finance, providing shareholder returns, fulfilling employee, alleviating poverty and feeding back to the society. By doing so, ICBC has contributed to the sustainable economic development, social progress and public welfare.

The Annual Social Responsibility Report published by ICBC showed that the Bank has driven the transformation and upgrading of real economy as well as the improvement of efficiency and quality by leveraging the Bank’s expertise in financial services. In loan businesses, the amount of loans granted to green industries such as ecological conservation and clean energy has reached RMB 702.43 billion, while the loans granted to the underdeveloped areas in the middle and western China have amounted to RMB 3,839.409 billion, up by 7.3% and 10.02% respectively. The capital needs of small and micro businesses are prioritized with an increase of RMB 161.7 billion or 9.4% in loans. 

To provide better customer services, ICBC has built more than 3000 branches with smart services by restructuring its branch network, upgrading counter procedures and standardizing outlet operation. The Bank has rolled out e-ICBC development strategy, establishing e-ICBC internet financial product and service system featuring five functions including payment, financing, financial transaction, business and information and integrating online-offline channels. Outside China, ICBC has set up a comprehensive “Going Global” service system involving financing, settlement, transaction and information consultation to provide global service support for enterprises operating overseas.

In terms of public welfare, ICBC has directly invested RMB 55.75 million into charity activities, including a targeted poverty alleviation fund of RMB 11.6 million in Sichuan and the “Lifeline Express” campaign providing free cataract surgeries to 1,550 poor patients in Dingxi, Gansu Province.
