ICBC and McDonald’s Launch Cooperation on QR Code Payment
 

ICBC’s “ICBC QR Code Payment” will officially support the consumption in over 2,000 McDonald’s stores across China since September 22. Quick payment can be made through scanning ICBC QR code by cashiers or self-service machines. In addition, customers making payment via ICBC QR code can enjoy RMB 15 off per RMB 30 consumption every Thursday and Sunday. The special offer is valid through November 6, 2016.

An official with ICBC said that the cooperation between ICBC and McDonald’s realizes the integration of bank’s payment product with consumer’s daily dining and further improves customer experience. ICBC QR code payment, as China’s first bank-developed code scanning payment product, has attracted wide attention since its release on July 15, 2016. The product uses the world-leading TOKEN technology to conduct dynamic mutation treatment for information generated during transaction, which effectively protects customer’s fund and information security. It is as convenient as other code scanning payment products despite stronger security Furthermore, ICBC is the world’s only all-brand card issuer that cooperates with China UnionPay, MasterCard, American Express, JCB and DinersClub. ICBC QR code payment is expected to start supporting bonding of ICBC cards and cards of other banks in the fourth quarter of this year. It will also support overseas bank cards, which will also exhibit its strength in compatibility.

In response to the trend of internet finance, ICBC has established an e-ICBC architecture based on ICBC Mobile, ICBC Link and ICBC Mall (three platforms) and backed by e-pay, finance and investment & wealth management (three product lines). ICBC QR code payment is the latest product in ICBC e-pay system and an integral part of e-ICBC strategy. It combines traditional financial service and internet to better serve small, medium and large-sized merchants and provide more professional, efficient and convenient financial services to SMEs.
